COVID-19 Vulnerable Vaccination Program (VVP)

FOR NURSES WHO HAVE NOT YET COMPLETED TRAINING

COORDINARE is offering Registered Nurses working in General Practice or Residential Aged Care, within the South Eastern NSW PHN region, the opportunity to apply for fully funded positions to complete studies to become a qualified Authorised Nurse Immuniser in NSW.

Successful applicants will be able to enrol in the Understanding Vaccines and the National Immunisation Program (HESA Accredited) course.

Key points to note:

• this self-paced, online course must be completed within a period of 20 weeks from the date of registration;
• comprising 4 modules and 2 exams, it requires a commitment of approximately 70 hours learning;
• on successful completion, participants will be able to administer vaccinations independent of a medical officer as per NSW Health Authority;
• COORDINARE is offering successful applicants 100% funding of this course;
• This course is accredited by Health Education Services Australia (HESA) and conforms with the National Immunisation Education Framework for Health Professionals.

FOR NURSES WHO COMPLETED SELF-FUNDED TRAINING IN 2024

COORDINARE is offering to reimburse Registered Nurses working in General Practice or Residential Aged Care Facilities, within the South Eastern NSW PHN region, 100% of the course cost incurred to become an Authorised Nurse Immuniser in NSW.

Criteria to be eligible for 100% reimbursement of your course fee:

1. You must be currently registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a registered nurse or midwife;
2. You are currently employed in General Practice or Residential Aged Care in South Eastern NSW
3. You must have completed one of the HESA Accredited courses listed here;
4. You must have finished the course in the 2024 year;
5. You must not have previously claimed reimbursement for the full or partial cost of this training through other means.

To apply for your course cost reimbursement, please complete this form, attach the course provider’s receipt as well as evidence of completion in 2024, and email to Rebecca Johnson rjohnson@coordinareuat.undev.com.au.

Applications for reimbursement close on 31 December 2024 unless funding is expended prior.

FOR GENERAL PRACTICES

COORDINARE will reimburse General Practices the MBS equivalent for any COVID-19 vaccinations provided to non-Medicare eligible patients between now and 31 December 2024.

In addition, practices can claim a fee to cover the additional support/clerical staff time costs incurred as a result of this process.

Once you have conducted these free COVID-19 vaccinations and have entered the details into the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR), practices can submit their reimbursement claim to COORDINARE by completing and returning this form.

Reimbursement claims can be made until 31 December 2024 unless funding is expended prior.

To assist you in encouraging this cohort of patients to access their free COVID-19 vaccine, we have produced some resources you can use.

FOR PHARMACY

COORDINARE will reimburse community pharmacies the CVCP Program Service Fee equivalent for any COVID-19 vaccinations provided to non-Medicare eligible patients between now and 31 December 2024.

In addition, pharmacies can claim a fee to cover the additional support/clerical staff time costs incurred as a result of this process.

Once you have conducted these free COVID-19 vaccinations and have entered the details into the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR), pharmacies can submit their reimbursement claim to COORDINARE by completing and returning this form.

COORDINARE invites General Practices who have established and trusted relationships with facilities in the South Eastern NSW PHN catchment, to apply for funding to support them to deliver and provide in-reach COVID-19 vaccination clinics to Residential Aged Care Facility and Disability Housing Residents and Staff.

Funding of $3,000 is available where ten (10) or more residents/staff have been given a COVID-19 vaccination at one single in-reach clinic, and covers additional costs incurred including, but not limited to:

• Travel;
• Infrastructure;
• Communications;
• Staffing.

We encourage practices to consider utilising their Authorised Nurse Immunisers for the clinic where applicable.

Funding is available until 31 December 2024 unless expended prior.

Claim Form

COORDINARE are inviting General Practices to apply for a one-off small grant of $5,000 to cover the additional costs associated with providing COVID-19 vaccinations to a minimum of ten (10) homebound patients. Funding covers, but is not limited to:

• Travel;
• Infrastructure;
• Communications;
• Staffing.

Examples of homebound individuals:

• people with an injury, chronic health issue, or frailty affecting their mobility;
• people with moderate to severe physical or psychosocial disability (this could include people with a social anxiety that cannot leave their home);
• people with moderate to severe mental health or behavioural issues not otherwise classified as a psychosocial disability.

Flu and other opportunistic vaccinations could be delivered during the same visit where appropriate but do not count towards the minimum number required.

We encourage practices to consider utilising their Authorised Nurse Immunisers for these homebound vaccinations where applicable.

Grants will cover the period to 31 December 2024.

COORDINARE invites applications from General Practices and Community Organisations to apply for small grant funding of $1,000 to support and coordinate activities that increase the uptake of COVID-19 and NIP vaccinations in eligible populations across South Eastern NSW.

OPTION 1 - FOR GENERAL PRACTICES

• Use your practice data to identify patients eligible for:
  • their initial course of COVID-19 vaccines or a recommended 2024 COVID-19 vaccine booster; and
  • overdue NIP vaccinations; and
• Check the Australian Immunisation Register to confirm vaccination status and eligibility; and
• Recall eligible patients and administer vaccinations; and
• Provide final report to COORDINARE using template provided.

 OPTION 2 - FOR COMMUNITY ORGANISATIONS OR GENERAL PRACTICES

• Identify any social, cultural, physical or hesitancy barriers that may be preventing patients from accessing NIP and COVID-19 vaccinations; and
• Undertake an awareness/education activity on NIP and COVID-19 vaccinations at a local event or community group meeting/service; and
• Hold a pop-up vaccination clinic at the awareness raising event or provide support or referral pathways to access vaccination; and
• Provide final report to COORDINARE using template provided.

Funding covers the costs incurred to carry out either option, including but not limited to:

• Travel;
• Infrastructure;
• Communications;
• Staffing.
